REVEALING NATURE SCULPTURE

MAKING WAVES ON HONG KONG'S HARBOUR

"A reminder that beneath every paved surface was once water – the Revealing Nature sculpture aims to increase awareness of the impact of urban development on the environment, and to encourage people to think about its preservation and sustainability"

A stunning sculpture has been installed near the Harbour on the Hong Kong waterfront. Representing the increasing urbanization and development of cities - and a reminder that beneath every paved surface was once water – the Revealing Nature sculpture aims to increase awareness of the impact of urban development on the environment, and to encourage people to think about its preservation and sustainability.

The artwork ‘peels’ away from the ground, revealing the water below; and the top section, including a water feature, resembles the crest of a wave and the motion of water within the harbour area.

COBRA Composite Structures is proud to have been involved with such an eyecatching art piece, having been commissioned to develop and manufacture the entire feature (excluding glazing), which will be in place for 12 months.

Following COBRA’s review of the geometry combined with a detailed engineering evaluation, the 3.6-square-metre, free standing piece was produced from foam core, with a final weight of 600kg.
